At Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club, children in school years 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 can play hockey for their school in the Kāpiti inter-school league. We even have a Mini Sticks morning for years 1/2 and pre-school.
Information packs and registration forms are sent directly to Kāpiti Coast schools. However, we welcome all schools. Email juniors@kapitihockey.org.nz for an information pack.
If a school is unable to field a full team, the club will put together a blended team to ensure all children who want to play are able to play.
Each league is played on:
- Tuesday afternoons for years 7 and 8
- Wednesday afternoons for years 5 and 6
- Sunday mornings (6-a-side) for years 3 and 4
The first two weeks of the season will be player, coach and umpire development sessions.
Each player needs their own equipment
To play the game of hockey, each player will need:
- a mouthguard
- a pair of shinguards
- a hockey stick
- Sports shoes (no cleats)
If a player does not have a stick, we have some that can be borrowed.
