At Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club, children in school years 5 and 6 can learn to play hockey at our development sessions, play hockey for their school and play club hockey.
Year 5-6 Hockey Program
Wednesdays after school starting on the 5th May 2021 between 3.45pm – 6.00pm
Games are held at the local hockey turf – 10 Scaife Drive, Paraparaumu

Development sessions for all skill levels
Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club runs development days during the school holidays, and mid-week development sessions in the lead up to the hockey season.
In these sessions, your child will learn new skills and refine existing hockey skills in a fun, friendly and welcoming environment.
Join a 7-a-side inter-school hockey team
The Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club hosts an inter-school league during terms two and three.
All schools are welcome to participate and all skill levels are welcome.
Games are played at Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club on:
- Tuesday afternoons for years 7 and 8
- Wednesday afternoons for years 5 and 6
- Sunday mornings (6-a-side) for years 3 and 4
The league starts with two development sessions which all players and coaches are encouraged to attend.

If your child’s school does not have a hockey team, please let us know as we can organise a team for your child.
Play 7-a-side club hockey
Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club enters mixed (boys and girls) teams into the Wellington Hockey Association (WHA) Kiwi Sticks 5/6 winter league.
The WHA Kiwi Sticks league is played during terms two and three on Saturday mornings.
Games are played at turfs around the Wellington region:
- Kāpiti Sports Turf
- National Hockey Stadium, Newtown
- Elsdon Park, Porirua
- Fraser Park, Lower Hutt
- Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt
Club trials are held in term one and teams train once a week.
Umpire and tournament opportunities for year 5/6 players
Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club has a proud history of developing youth umpires.

Wellington Hockey Association (WHA) U11 hub programme
Your child may wish to participate in the WHA U11 hub programme.
This is a fun development opportunity, with the opportunity to play in a festival of hockey and a tournament with teams from other associations (e.g. Wairarapa, Horowhenua or Manawatu).
