At Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club, children in school years 5/6 and 7/8 can play club hockey in the Wellington Hockey Association (WHA) Small Sticks leagues.
Play 7-a-side club hockey
Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club enters mixed, boys and girls teams into the Wellington Hockey Association (WHA) Small Sticks winter leagues. These include:
- Kiwi sticks: year 5/6 mixed (boys and girls) teams
- Kwik sticks: year 7/8 boys teams and 7/8 girls teams
The WHA Small Sticks leagues are played during terms two and three on Saturday mornings.
Games are played on turfs around the Wellington region:
- Kāpiti Sports Turf
- National Hockey Stadium, Newtown
- Elsdon Park, Porirua
- Fraser Park, Lower Hutt
- Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt
Club trials are held in term one and teams train once a week.
Players are given a uniform for the season. They will also need:
- a mouthguard
- a pair of shinguards
- hockey stick
- sports shoes (no cleats)
If your child is interested in becoming a goalie, great!
We provide goalie training, and can provide goalie gear if required.
